Colors Unleashed: A Two-Day Art Bootcamp Filled with Creativity, Inspiration, and Transformative Experiences

Art has the power to transform, inspire, and bring communities together. Recently, Suli ning Lubao hosted a highly anticipated two-day Art Bootcamp in collaboration with NHCP Museo ni Jose B. Lingad, NHCP Museo at Aklatan ni Diosdado Macapagal, and the Philippine Pastel Artists Incorporated. This immersive event promised participants an extraordinary journey into the world of art, fostering artistic exploration and personal growth.

Day One: May 19, 2023 – The Commencement:

 

The excitement was palpable as art enthusiasts gathered for the commencement of the Art Bootcamp. Guiding them through the fundamentals of soft pastel art was Mr. Julius Legaspi, the visionary founder of the Philippine Pastel Artists Incorporated. With his extensive experience and deep passion for the medium, Legaspi delivered an enlightening discourse, unveiling the intricacies of working with soft pastels. Participants absorbed his expertise, gaining invaluable insights that would shape their artistic endeavors.

 

The afternoon session witnessed participants putting their newfound knowledge into practice. Immersed in a hands-on experience, they let their creativity flow onto canvases, creating unique artworks that expressed their inner worlds. Adding to the immersive atmosphere, Mr. Rafael “Paeng” Maniago, a renowned artist, delivered a captivating live portrait demonstration, inspiring participants and igniting their artistic aspirations.

Day Two: May 20, 2023 – A Showcase of Landscape Painting:

The second day of the Art Bootcamp saw NHCP Museo ni Jose B. Lingad bursting with colors and creativity. Ten emerging visual artists showcased their talent and creativity through landscape painting. Joining them were highly esteemed artists from the Philippine Pastel Artists, including Mr. Alvin Montano, Mr. Roland Castro, Ms. Iris Babao-Uy, and Ms. Luisa Bayot. These accomplished artists not only shared their knowledge but also demonstrated their skills in working with soft pastels.

 

Participants engaged in a workshop centered around landscape painting, where they chose a photograph to serve as their subject. The atmosphere was filled with artistic energy as each artist translated their chosen landscapes onto canvases. As the event drew to a close, participants had the opportunity to share their finished artworks and reflect on their overall experience with the Art Bootcamp. Instructors expressed their gratitude and provided words of encouragement to the young artists who had taken part in “Project Aláya.”
