SNL's Lugaw Food Drive: A Step Towards Eradicating Hunger in Lubao

October 7, 2022

Last October 7, 2022, the non-profit organization Suli Ning Lubao (SNL) conducted a food drive in support of the Zero Hunger Month of the United Nations. As part of their advocacy to eradicate hunger in the Philippines, the organization distributed 200 packs of lugaw or rice porridge to Grade 7 students of San Vicente National High School in Lubao, Pampanga.

The food drive is in line with the UN’s call to tackle hunger and malnutrition, which is one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The SDGs aim to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all, and the eradication of hunger is crucial in attaining this goal.

According to SNL Chairperson Harvey Manalang, the activity also serves as a way for the organization to commemorate and revisit the humble beginnings of its members in the town of Pampanga. The distribution of lugaw is a nod to the traditional way of supporting and helping each other in the community, especially during difficult times.

The Zero Hunger Month of the UN is celebrated every October to raise awareness about the global issue of hunger and malnutrition. It is a reminder for all of us to take action and make a difference in the lives of those who are suffering from hunger. Through initiatives like SNL’s food drive, we can contribute to the efforts of the UN in eradicating hunger and achieving a more sustainable future for all.

In conclusion, the donation drive conducted by Suli Ning Lubao is a significant step towards achieving the SDGs and eradicating hunger in the Philippines. It is a reminder that we can make a difference in the lives of others by taking action and supporting initiatives that promote sustainable development. Let us all work together towards a better and more sustainable future for all.
